Mexico – Nabor Gallardo
Tasting notes: Peach, Blueberry, Cherry, Black Tea & Caramel
Sourced from the remote Sierra Mazateca mountains in Oaxaca, Mexico, this distinctive coffee comes from a region known for its small-scale production, challenging growing conditions and exceptionally complex cup profiles. Grown at around 1,500 metres above sea level, coffee here benefits from the region’s cool mountain climate and unique terroir.
Produced by Nabor Gallardo, this lot represents the work of smallholder coffee producers whose harvests are often remarkably small. Many farmers in the Mazateca cultivate coffee on plots of less than one hectare, preserving a tradition of carefully tended coffee production in a region that remains largely overlooked by the specialty coffee market.
The coffee is processed using the semi-washed method, bringing clarity and balance to its expressive character. Expect juicy notes of peach, blueberry and cherry, complemented by the delicate character of black tea and the rounded sweetness of caramel. A complex, fruit-forward cup with a refined balance of sweetness and structure.
Through its work with local partners, Raw Material supports coffee producers in the Sierra Mazateca by helping connect their coffees with the specialty market and encouraging more sustainable, long-term trading relationships.
