Tasting notes: Grapefruit, Blackcurrant, Hibiscus & Vanilla
Grown at an altitude of approximately 1,700 metres in Kenya, this coffee is produced by smallholder farmers supplying Kimatu Factory, part of the Rwama Farmers Cooperative Society. The region’s favourable microclimate, fertile soils and cool temperatures allow coffee cherries to mature gradually, contributing to a complex flavour profile and balanced acidity.
This lot combines the Kenyan varieties SL28, SL34 and Ruiru 11, bringing together distinctive flavour characteristics and a balance of quality and resilience. Carefully handpicked cherries are processed using the fully washed method, with fermentation and washing followed by slow, controlled drying on raised African beds.
In the cup, expect vibrant grapefruit and blackcurrant notes, complemented by delicate hibiscus florals and sweet vanilla. A creamy body brings balance and texture to the bright, expressive acidity, creating a clean and refined Kenyan coffee.
Kimatu Factory works with approximately 800 smallholder farmers, with centralised processing helping maintain consistency and quality from cherry to export-ready coffee.
