Ethiopia G1 Lalesa – Ephtah
Tasting notes: Papaya, Rum, Cacao, Grapefruit, Brown Sugar, Vanilla & Cinnamon
Sourced from Lalesa in Ethiopia’s Gedeb district, this distinctive lot is produced by Ephtah Specialty Coffee at an altitude of approximately 2,200 metres above sea level. Grown under natural shade trees, the coffee consists of local Ethiopian cultivars 74112 and 74110, carefully harvested during the December–January season.
What sets this lot apart is its anaerobic processing. The freshly harvested cherries undergo nine days of fermentation in sealed plastic barrels, followed by 13–18 days of careful drying on raised beds. This controlled process encourages the development of a complex flavour profile, bringing together tropical papaya, rich cacao and warming notes of vanilla and cinnamon, complemented by grapefruit and a distinctive rum-like character.
Ephtah Specialty Coffee is committed to building long-term relationships with farming communities across Ethiopia, investing in quality, infrastructure and initiatives that support local producers. Its work at Lalesa reflects a thoughtful approach to coffee production, combining careful processing with a focus on quality and sustainability.
A bold and expressive Ethiopian coffee, offering a layered combination of tropical fruit, deep sweetness and warming spice.
